Interdisciplinary Capacity Enhancement (ICE) for Vulnerable Population Research
“ICE”
(Interdisciplinary Capacity Enhancement) is a generic term used by the
Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) for strategic research
capacity building grants. The goal of CIHR's Reducing Health Disparities Initiative
is to "generate outstanding research and build excellent research
capacity to document, analyze, and contribute to reducing health
disparities."
To differentiate our ICE
from other ICE grants and to provide a short label for the ICE related
work of NELS, the acronym NELS ICE is used to mean the CIHR funded ICE work associated with the NELS.
NELS ICE
research capacity developments will take place primarily within the
Dalhousie University Faculties of Health Professions and Medicine, the
Capital Health District Authority, Cancer Care Nova Scotia, and the IWK
Health Centre. NELS ICE is associated with local, national, and
international research collaborations insofar as they promote the
achievement of NELS ICE goals and objectives.
